MS have moved Halo wars release date slightly to compete. Doesn't mean they are afriad and nor does it mean the nintendo or sony are afraid if they do the same thing.

We all know they are estimations and could be out. However if you look at their numbers combared to what the big 3 say they should be they are quite accurate. If they are not they are adjusted. it would help if you knew what you were talking about before you type. You are right that these are shipped figures but 4 million in shops?!?! At any given time a company will have between 500,000 and 1 million units in the channel, on shop shelves and no more (unless your the wii in which case there may be less as its closer to selling out). From that MS have sold at least 27 million to consumers.

There is none! Look at the shipment figures from both companies and you'll see they practically tied with MS having the slight edge. That wasn't a bad result for the ps3 considering the awful start to the year it had. Remember its fight with the GBA in early 2007's NPD's?
the same way that hardware and every bit of software is reported by the companies. It is impossible for them to accuratly announced how many units are in homes. Do you think each company has a representative in each of the thousands of stores around the world counting sales? No. Thats why all companies give so much weight to NPD because they are the best estimations we and they have. If they have their own better numbers how come you never see companies disputing NPD?
The older numbers (until the last 3 months) are not vgchartz numbers they are based off the numbers from manufacturers. The last few months are vgchartz estimations which have proven more accurate than I thought they would as they are close to the numbers MS gave recently. MS claimed 28 million shipped and vgchartz have it 27 million sold to consumers. Whats bad about that.

I don't think you can really claim any sort of bias in the article though as it seems fair and logical.
so yes along way ahead but the 3rd year for the ps2 is when it started hotting up but it is already too far behind IMO.
For additional comparison here is the hardware table for selected systems with launches aligned at just over 2 years of their lifetime:

whilst the wii and DS's growth in particular are outstanding. The ps3 and xbox 360 have also shown equal sales since the ps3's release which is good for the market as competition will be rife throughout both system's lifetimes.
Europe is also proving itself to be a market as important as the North American one with huge sales. However it is the Japanese market that seems to be the sorry sight with only the 360 and psp showing any year to year growth.
it wasn't too long ago they were at 3000 a week. We can only really determine how well they are all doing after the christmas boost though. Japan's market seems to be shrinking and all3 consoles are suffering. Both wii and ps3 are down year on year and the 360 is being the 360 in Japan. ie. slow sales.
since 1998 sony have made just under $1 billion from their games division. Nintendo has made over $10 billion. Nintendo did not need saving even last generation as the gamecube was profitable from the start. It made almost as much money than the ps2 and have made 10x more on the wii whilst sony have lost the ps2's profits on the ps3.
I'm not even goign to go into how much MS have lost as that is well documented.
